Fml Warnings
This document provides essential safety and warning information regarding the use of fluorometholone. It is crucial to review these details and discuss any concerns with your healthcare provider.
Eye Conditions and Infections: Prolonged use of fluorometholone can increase the risk of developing glaucoma, vision issues, and corneal thinning. Additionally, it may lead to new or worsening eye infections. Avoid using this medication if you currently have an eye infection, including herpes simplex. Also, if you've recently undergone corneal surgery, fluorometholone might slow the healing process. For those requiring long-term use (10 days or more), regular eye examinations are necessary to monitor eye health. Notify your healthcare provider if you experience changes in vision or eye pain. This is particularly important for individuals with a history of glaucoma, cataracts, or viral eye infections, and those who have recently had corneal surgery.
Contact Lens Use: Fluorometholone suspensions contain benzalkonium chloride, a preservative that can be absorbed by soft contact lenses, potentially causing damage. Therefore, it is advised to remove contact lenses before applying the suspension and wait at least 15 minutes after application before reinserting them. This precaution is applicable when using generic fluorometholone suspension, FML suspension, FML Forte, or Flarex.
Contraindications: Do not use fluorometholone if you have bacterial, viral, or fungal infections in the eye, as it may pose significant health risks. Consult your healthcare provider if any of these conditions apply to you.
Fml Side Effects
When using this medication, some individuals may experience common side effects, which are generally mild. These can include a burning or stinging sensation in the eye, eye irritation, and increased pressure within the eyes. While these effects are usually not serious, it is advisable to consult your healthcare provider if they persist or become bothersome.
Other side effects have been reported and may require medical attention, especially if they are severe. These include inflammation of the cornea, corneal ulcers, dilated pupils, a sensation of a foreign body in the eye, redness or swelling of the eyelids, and eye redness, discharge, pain, or itching. Additionally, you may experience excessive tearing, blurry vision, partial loss of your field of vision, difficulty focusing on close objects, or eye infections with long-term use. Some users have also reported an abnormal taste and skin rash.
While there are no serious side effects listed, it is important to remain vigilant about any changes in your symptoms and communicate with your healthcare provider as needed.
